Installation, performance (10 min), lecture
w/ Veronika Burger & Nora Jacobs
According to the motto ‘Your documentation is my documentation is material is my next show’, HoT – Heathers on Tour – connects performance objects, texts and choreographic elements from previous works with new costumes and a revolving stage to create a new performative installation, which is inspired by horror movies. The live-performance and lecture also give an insight into the feministic working structure of the female artist collective.
The character of 'Heather' represents the ultimate horror movie supporting actress. With the theme of horror - in horror movies often negotiated along the demarcation line of female identities and bodies - , we approach triggers for feelings of pleasurable horror, sweet shivers, uncanniness and unease from a queer-feminist perspective.
Our interest is directed towards translation processes between film and live-performances. We de- and reconstruct familiar figures of popular horror movies by using a combination of terrifying humor and humorous horror.
The interdisciplinary art space PRAHA in Brno (CZ) offered a short residency that met the needs of our site-specific work practice.
It enabled us to develop an installation, present a performance and to contribute to feminist discourses in town through a closing lecture with discussion.
