Performative intervention, participatory art

 

RELAXXX RIOT is an ongoing artistic project that proposes the sauna as a place for engaging in an activist practice of rest and resistance.

Sauna for everyone!

 

A first realization happened as an alternative artist talk within the frame of Káznice studios residency programme in Brno (CZ) in February 2024.

Artists, cultural workers and feminist activists were invited to explore rest as resistance while having a sauna at Sauna Třpyt - a mobile trailer sauna on the banks of the river Svratka. 

Divided into a FLINTA* (German acronym for women*, lesbians, intersex, nonbinary trans and agender persons) and a mixed group, we made three sauna rounds taking care of one another by using performative tools such as massage devices and discussing different feminist topics including radical softness, rest as resistance and how to build new alliances for common action without burning out.

An instant feminist library provided by the artist inspired the exchange.
