Performative intervention
Tentechular object (purple & black foil fringe curtains, dustbin lid, string)
Interactive performance by SirenX, ca. 30 min
As an Artist in Residence, SirenX intervened into the so-called "Social studio" of the exhibition and artist studio space HART in Hong Kong. The audience was welcomed into a sound installation that was soon to develop into a live-voice performance by SirenX. After untangling themselves from the clutches of a tentechular object, they meandered through the space using body movements as an impulse for queer voice material. In reference to ballroom culture, they invited the audience to split into groups and form the four Houses of Octopus, Sea Anemone, Squid, and Star-Nosed-Mole. The Houses spontaneously developed and shared communication practices loosely inspired by their respective tentacled creature.

Are you the heart, the funnel, the brain,
the anus, the sucker, the eye,
the adhesive foot or the tentacle
of this organism?
Let's start by diving deeply
into the social fabric of HART Studio
aka the "social studio".
Some questions to start with:
Can you think of any space dynamics,
ways of communication,
be it words, movements, gestures,
any rituals that are
happening at HART?
